Teacher of the Month

 Matthew Caillet

You can say teaching is in Matthew Caillet's blood. His mother was a middle school teacher and he admired her work with children so much, he became one too. He's been teaching five years and is certified in math and social studies for grades 6 through 12.
Matthew says one of the most fulfilling aspects of being at University View Academy came after a conversation with Assistant High School Principal Julie Marie. She suggested forming a chapter of the National Beta Club and Matthew followed through. He's currently the coordinator of the Beta Club and National Junior Honor Society for grades 7 through 9. The Beta Club started with 15 students and has grown to 66. Right now, the National Honor Society is involved in service projects with the older students writing letters to service members overseas and Junior Club members are collecting items for the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe.
Matthew is also a State Board Member for the Council for Exceptional Children after being recruited for the post by one of his professors at LSU.
