With over 29 years of experience in the field of education, Ms. Sims’ expertise, dedication, and visionary leadership have left an indelible mark on the schools she has served. Her professional journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and her unwavering belief in the potential of every student.
Ms. Sims began her education career when she served as a teacher, then an administrator, in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools. She continued her leadership journey as an assistant principal at Baton Rouge Magnet High School and as associate principal at Lee Magnet High School. Her exceptional leadership skills, collaborative approach, and dedication to fostering a positive school culture helped create an environment where students thrived academically and personally. Her commitment to equity ensured that all students had equal access to resources, opportunities, and a well-rounded education.
Ms. Sims holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and a Master of Arts in school counseling from Southern University and A&M College. She also received her Educational Leadership Certification through Advance Innovative Education and completed the National Institute of School Leadership Executive Development Program.
Ms. Sims is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she participates in community service initiatives that promote educational equity and social justice. Her true pride is her role as a mother – her two young adult children serve as a constant reminder of the importance of nurturing and empowering the next generation.
